Criminal Law: Three Good Reasons To Not Watch Porn On Your Kids' Mobile Devices

Criminal law also encompasses endangering a child with the viewing of sexually explicit content. Some states even consider exposing children to sexually explicit content a form of sexual assault on a child because of the long-term effects it has on children. As a parent, you do everything you can to protect your kids, but sometimes you slip up. Watching porn or sexual content on your kids' mobile devices definitely falls under this category. Here are three good reasons not to watch this stuff on your kids' phones or tablets.

1. Your Kid Could Open Browsing History and See What's There

Just because you closed out of the sites or adult videos you were watching does not mean that you have "erased it from existence." Your son or daughter could open browsing history to find a link for a site he/she visited the day before and accidentally click on what you visited. Now you are in some very serious trouble.

2. Unrelated Investigations Could Lead to Your Arrest for Showing Porn to Minors

This is not just the stuff of TV shows. If you or your spouse use the kids' devices for adult content, and then are investigated for something else and find yourselves arrested for porn on your kids' devices, you may have twice the problems the cops were looking for. Your children could be removed from your home for an unknown period of time and placed in foster care while CPS (child protective services) investigates the allegations and "proof" on your kids' devices.

3. The Government Monitors Porn Viewing, Especially with Devices Registered to Children

Special agents working anti-child abuse/sex abuse cases track and monitor porn use and viewing. If your kids' devices are specifically registered to them (e.g., your sixteen-year-old has her own phone), these are tracked even closer when certain sites are accessed by kids. If you access adult content on your kid-registered device, these agents may start following you around in the virtual world to make sure you are not a pedophile living in a house with children.

If You Are Arrested and Charged

If you make the whopping mistake of watching porn on your kids' mobile devices and your porn viewing history is discovered, you may be arrested and charged. If that happens, say nothing to the police, and hire a criminal law attorney right away. While watching porn was your adult decision, your accidental release of that material to your kids was a mistake, and your lawyer can help clear things up.
